Clearing Up Confusion

Raul Martinez Noriega

“I’d like to nominate Raul Martinez Noriega for an OWNit Moment. I had gotten lost (I turned into what I figured was the back of the customer and was searching for a way to check in but couldn’t find it). The sign said I needed the guard shack, but I wasn’t seeing one anywhere. I saw a driver sitting in a nearby Nussbaum truck, so went over and introduced myself. He said his name was Raul, and I noticed the Platinum and Certified RED stickers on his truck. I admired his certifications and asked for some pointers, which he kindly gave. Then I asked where the guard shack was, and explained how I had missed a turn and came in at an odd entrance. He recognized me from a fuel stop we were both at, hours earlier, and helped me navigate the whole process of dropping my load at this customer, including explaining that there was no manned guard shack at this stop. He was forthcoming about all the ins and outs, and since everything is still a bit new for me (I’m in my first 4 months here at Nussbaum) and I struggle to get loads delivered on time, particularly with unfamiliar customers (who all have different processes), it saved me a lot of time and trouble. He even offered to wait for me on the other side of the building where the empty trailers were, so that after I got my empty, he could lead me out of the customer and back to Hwy 70 without using a time-consuming local road with many lights. He was true to his word. I found him patiently waiting for me while I hooked up to an empty, pre-tripped it, and sent in my LiNK messages. Then while leading me back to the highway, he was one of those amazing drivers who wait for you if you get stuck at a light. What a class act! Thank you, Raul! I was so impressed and grateful for all of your help.” – Cheryl Sanderhill
