The Most Interesting Loads Our Drivers Have Ever Hauled

“What’s the most interesting load you’ve hauled?”

We ask this question each week in driver orientation. It never ceases to amaze us with the funny, strange, and just plain unique loads our drivers have hauled. Below is a collection of some of those loads that are out of the ordinary.

  • “I picked up a load of ping pong balls. Unboxed. They simply blew them into the truck. No boxes, no pallets. And when I went to unload it, they tilted the trailer, opened up the door, and let them all flow out. It was quite the sight.”
  • “The most interesting load I’ve ever had involved the drug Vicodin. Three trucks pulled up to load. One by one we were taken inside and they shut the doors to “load” them. Only one of us had a real load. The other two were bogies. No one was told who had the real load. The bill of lading was gibberish so the driver didn’t even know who had the real load and the weight was light enough, you couldn’t tell. Us three trucks drove together followed by a police escort. It was something out of a mission impossible movie.”
  • “Unreleased iphones. Millions of dollars worth. I had a police escort the whole time.”
  • “One pallet. Yep.”
  • “A load of girl scout cookies. I was really hoping they gave me a box when I delivered.”
  • “A load of pine cones. Un-palletized, just thrown right in.“
  • “One time I took a load of office supplies to the space force base in Denver, CO. They had my truck inspected inside and out by a drug sniffing dog which was pretty interesting to watch.”
  • “I took a load of catalytic converters and the customer followed me in their own van the whole time. They stopped when I stopped and slept where I slept.”

Have an interesting load you’ve hauled? We want to feature it in our podcast! Send us a video recording yourself telling about the most interesting load you’ve hauled. Send video submissions to this link: https://dch.nussbaum.com/ and you may just find yourself featured on the Terminal Exchange podcast.

To our drivers, everyday is an adventure – thank you for your commitment to deliver every load, no matter how unusual. And to our office/shop staff, thank you for supporting our drivers in each and every one of those loads.
