Ugly Christmas Sweater Day 2023

The day you probably have been waiting for forgot about.

Crack out your oldest sweater, go thrift shopping, or borrow your friend’s sweater because December 15 is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day! Find a hidden gem or make your own.

  • Drivers, send in a picture📷📷 of you wearing an ugly sweater before December 15 to marketing@nussbaum.com.
  • Office employees (or drivers stopping by the terminal), we will host an in-person competition on Friday, December 15th at 10am in the breakroom. Wear your ugly sweater to work! ***sweaters should be family-friendly and should otherwise comply with dress code***

There will be 4 winners. We will have a “people’s choice” and a “luck of the draw” (a name drawn out of a hat of all the participants) winner for the in-person competition. For drivers, there will be a “marketing’s choice” and a “luck of the draw” winner. Winners will receive their choice of Crumbl Christmas cookies 🍪 or the NEW Nussbaum socks. May the best sweater win.

The History of the Ugly Sweater

The inception of unappealing sweaters traces back to the very origins of humanity’s fashion experimentation. These garments didn’t emerge from deliberate intentions; rather, they often resulted from inadvertent knitting mishaps or the pursuit of creative designs that fell short of expectations. Nevertheless, it didn’t take much time before grandmothers across the globe, perhaps with a subtle chuckle, took up the craft of purposefully creating unsightly Christmas sweaters adorned with baubles and sentimental “I love Grandma” messages. Beware, grandmothers, we’ve got our eyes on you.
