What is Night-In-A-Car?
Home Sweet Home Ministries is hosting a homelessness simulation that shines a spotlight on the hidden aspect of homelessness that many in our community experience–living in their cars. Participants will “live” out of their cars during the overnight hours. Each team is challenged to raise $1,000 per car.
Why Get Involved?
Your participation helps those in need right here in Bloomington-Normal. When you reach your $1,000 goal you and all of your supporters provide one month of food and shelter for one person. That then allows that person to gain stability and begin to initiate steps toward becoming a contributing citizen of the community. You help provide others the opportunity to a fresh start!
Event Details
Friday, February 4th, 2022 at 7 pm. The simulation will be done “drive-in” style at Trinity Lutheran Church, 801 South Madison Street, in Bloomington. The church will be open for quick bathroom breaks and coffee. The entire night will be spent in your vehicles with special learning experiences online.
If you prefer, you also have the option to “zoom-in” and join us online from your own driveway. It’s a great way to experience the event without leaving home! Challenge your family members and friends to join you.
Nussbaum’s Sponsorship
Nussbaum is sponsoring the event and we plan to have a truck and a LOVE ABOVE ALL trailer attend. We would encourage a team at Nussbaum to also attend. You may do so by clicking here Sign Up Here (nightinacar.org). If you plan on signing up please reach out to marketing@nussbaum.com.
Questions?
Please contact Saige Anderson with any questions or concerns. You may visit Night In A Car for additional details.
Isn’t using one of the trucks kind of cheating? They’re designed for spending MANY nights in! Homeless living on their cars don’t have bunk beds, fridges and a space heater that heats like an oven.
The truck will be at the location but it is not decided anyone is staying inside the cab! We are inviting people to participate in their personal vehicles!
