Exciting news! Beginning with 2nd Quarter 2026, Nussbaum will begin paying a Profit-Sharing bonus each quarter to our drivers. This program will enable drivers to participate immediately in Nussbaum’s financial success – matching perfectly with the long-term success sharing from our ESOP.

Profit-Sharing Bonus Formula

Based on Nussbaum’s profitability, you will receive an extra percentage (%) of your quarterly wages. The better the profitability, the higher the % of wages you will receive.

Quarterly Wages X Bonus Multiplier = Quarterly Bonus Payout

Bonus Multiplier

Your “bonus multiplier” will be determined by Nussbaum’s Operating Ratio (OR) from the previous quarter. For example, the 2nd Quarter payout will use the OR result from the 1st Quarter.

The OR is a strong measure of profit margin. Lower OR = higher profitability. Nussbaum already shares the OR with drivers via the quarterly financial presentation sent out via Info Center every 3 months.

The bonus multiplier will start at 0.35% when Nussbaum reaches or goes lower than 98.00% OR. Then with each full % OR point reduction (no rounding), the multiplier increases by another 0.35%.

Using this formula, an OR from 96.01% to 97.00% will earn a bonus multiplier of 0.70%. Then 95.01% to 96.00% will earn 1.05%, and then 94.01% to 95.00% will earn 1.40% – and on it goes. The multiplier will become more lucrative as Nussbaum achieves lower OR results.

Wages Matter!

Higher quarterly wages result in a higher bonus payout. Factors such as productivity, attendance, scorecard results, and Certified RED participation will naturally affect your bonus.

Payout Timeline

The bonus will be paid out in a Lump Sum Payment in the month following each quarter. To illustrate, the 2nd Quarter bonus (April-May-June) will be paid in July. Drivers must be employed at time of payout.

Putting It All Together

  • John Smith earned $21,000 during 4Q (13 weeks paid from October-December).
  • Nussbaum achieved an OR of 93.37% during 3Q – creating a 1.75% bonus multiplier.
  • Bonus Formula: $21,000 x 1.75% = $367.50
  • Mr. Smith is employed at time of payout. In January, he receives his lump sum check for 4Q!

The LiNK mobile app will soon include bonus progress next to your weekly pay information. These features will be available and published in the app by late April. (will require drivers to update LiNK)

Profit Sharing Tab

Watch your quarterly bonus build up via the “accumulating” bonus tracker. This is the bonus that you have earned so far during the quarter, as each week of your wages adds up. It is calculated using the Bonus Multiplier % generated from the previous quarter OR.

This tab will also show your “trending” bonus. This is the total quarterly bonus for which you are on pace, assuming your earnings pace is steady through the end of the quarter.

Curious what the next quarter’s OR will be? You can receive updates on how Nussbaum’s financial results for the current quarter are progressing. Nussbaum management will predict the OR for the current quarter and share comments about what might have an impact on the bottom line.
