New Hire Drivers

Gomer Stowell

Domicile: Nussbaum

Gomer is brand new to trucking. He got into it because it seemed like a good fit for him, and some family recommended he give it a shot. Gomer grew up in Ridgecrest, California, near Death Valley. Off the road you might find him playing video games, doing photography of portraits and landscapes, or light painting. Gomer’s ideal road snack is Dr. Pepper.

Dream vacation: I’d love to go back to the Netherlands again as it’s just been my favorite place I’ve ever visited.

Lawrence “Larry” Carpenter

Domicile: Chicago, IL

Larry has a desire for stable work with great pay, so he has begun his trucking career! He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and he enjoys reading and fitness when off the road. Larry also shares that he is friendly, open-minded, and loves humor.

Dream vacation: Scotland

Malaki Chatmon

Domicile: Nussbaum

Malaki is also new to trucking. He was drawn to the profession because he has a love for traveling. In his free time Malaki enjoys church outings, hanging out with family, and cycling. His favorite memory from the road was being in 8 states in less than a week this past year. Malaki grew up in Springfield, Illinois, and his ideal road snack is cashews and pistachios, and sweet treats. Malaki also shares that he is down to Earth, and he wants the best for the general people.

Dream vacation: Ghana in Africa

Julio Chapa Jr.

Domicile: Mendota, IL

Julio has been driving for 10 months, and trucking was always his long-term career goal. Julio grew up in Aurora, Illinois, and his favorite road memory was visiting Iowa 80. His favorite road snack is McDonald’s. Off the road Julio enjoys his family time, traveling, visiting his parents, and attending church. He also shares that he is good with technology, and he likes to play PC games.

Dream vacation: El Paso, Texas

Kenton Penix

Domicile: Wanatah, IN

Kenton got into trucking because he enjoyed riding in his dad’s truck when he was a teenager. He has now been trucking for 5 years. Kenton enjoys riding his motorcycle and traveling when off the road, and he grew up in Portage, Indiana. His favorite road snack is beef sticks. As a favorite road memory, Kenton shares this: “One Halloween, I got to drive through Manistee, Michigan, while all the kids were trick or treating. Well, as I passed the firehouse in town there were a bunch of firemen and policemen handing out candy from their cars and rigs, and they started telling all the kids to start pumping their arms for me and the driver behind me. We laid in our air horns with everything we had.”

Dream vacation: Would love to see Iceland or the Faroe Islands

Domicile: Galesburg, IL

New Shop Hire

Neil Riisberg

We are thrilled to announce Neil Riisberg has accepted the offer to become Nussbaum’s first Body Shop Tech. Neil has over 20 years of heavy-duty repair experience, including a good deal of work on Nussbaum equipment at Gerber Collision and Glass. His expertise will be crucial to getting our Body Shop into operation and established for the future. To say we are thankful to have him with us is an understatement.
