National Hobby Month // Week 4

It’s the end of National Hobby Month, and this is the last post to share your awesome hobbies. Thanks for sharing your interests and educating us on them – it’s been a fun month!

Jack Ritter“I am into radios. I am a licensed ham operator (amateur). I also have my General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) license. I am into CB’s as well. I enjoy talking to people across the world. I have talked from Springfield, MO, to Canada, Jamaica, and San Diego on minimum wattage. I have always enjoyed radio since I was in high school. I also have radios in my semi.”

Jason Cintron“Here are a few pics of my hobby in tailoring. I tailor COSPLAY outfits for live-action roleplayers. I mostly make medieval fantasy costumes and accessories, and I’m most proud of making the robes, staff, and hat for Gandalf the Grey from Lord of the Rings and the Jedi costume for Ben Kenobi from Star Wars.”

Craig Padgett – “I’m a lifelong Michiganer. I grew up on the water – skiing, fishing, and sailing. I saw this boat on my Manistee salt route. It was just what I was looking for – big enough to overnight in, but with a stub keel so I can trailer it myself. We sail it out of the Saugatuck Yacht Club on Kalamazoo Lake and out to the big lake if it’s not too rough between South Haven and Grand Haven.”

Richard Jaeger“I do mud drags and bogs. I’ve been working on this truck for two years, and I finally got the engine done his fall. It’s powered by a Ford 572 at just under 1,100 hp. I started racing many years ago and got my son involved in it. I hope to be out racing around the Midwest this summer.”

John Finch“Drawing has always been one of my hobbies. I love drawing. I will sometimes torture myself by attempting to paint, too, but I always go back to drawing. I made the switch to digital media a few years back, and it’s worked out well. Since I draw using my finger on an iPad, I can take my “studio” with me on the road. When a customer is taking a long time to load/unload freight, I can pick up my iPad, create a new file, and start to doodle.”

Michael Dotson“I started playing when I was like ten years old. I was in a band called Realign. About ten years ago, I beat out 100 drummers to become Brooke Barrettsmith’s new drummer and toured with her for a while until we became known as Vialyne. Then we sort of ended being a band and started writing music and session playing. Brooke was on Season 5 of American Idol and became good friends with Christ Daughtry. He helped us in writing music once, so that was cool! We also worked with Ben Kasica, the former guitarist for Skillet.”

Mike Wells“My hobbies are fishing, dirt bikes, and adventure riding.”

Gary Woolard“I am a Case pocket knife collector of over 20 years. I have around 150 different types, and I know when they were manufactured, the type, what they are made of, and that they are all American-made in Bradford, PA. They can tell their own story about themselves. All but five are brand new in the original packaging and box with warranty papers. You need all of that to keep them. Most are less than $100, but I have one that retails for over $400. I am still collecting and can tell you what yours is worth.”

Tom McMaster“Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan.”

Brian Stultz– “One of my hobbies is photography. Over many years, my wife, Kim, and I have photographed dances (sock hops & Marine Corps ball), veteran-based softball games, and American Legion golf scrambles. Also, it sparked its own separate hobby, Lego photography, as seen with my stepson, Seth.”

Ryan Jamison – “Here’s a video compilation of some of my hobbies, including cooking, making musics, woodworking, shooting my bow, and camping/hiking.”

Jimmie Hall – “My hobbies are motorcycles and sky diving. I’ve been riding since 1963 and love it. My second love is sky diving. There’s nothing like it if you need an adrenaline rush.”
