National Hobby Month // Week 2
It’s Week 2 of Hobby Month! I love to see how different we all are. When I’m cowering in my basement, John McKinney is out storm chasing. And though I can’t carry a tune to save my life, Shawn Reischauer is in a real-life band!
Has someone’s hobby surprised you?
Derek Rabe – “These are a few of the ships I have built. I’ve always been fascinated with ships – especially large ones. I want to take up the hobby again when I retire.”
Wayne McPherson – “I like fishing, hunting deer, and skeet shooting. I’m a three-time state champ in skeet – twice in 28 gauge and once in 20 gauge against a former Olympic shooter.”
Billie Joe Nussbaum – “Michael, Justin, James, and I have recently taken up a new hobby, and we figured we’d share it with you for January.”
Is it Curling? Or… is it Photoshop?
Frank Johnson – “One of my biggest hobbies is helping Hall Bros. Racing work on The Raminator Monster Struck. If only they’d let me drive!”
John McKinney – “My son and I are storm chasers. We’ve been doing it for seven years. I’ve been on the Weather Channel a few times as their storm tracker, and my son has sold a lot of video to the networks through our broker at Severe Studios. Here I am intercepting an EF-3 near Farnam, Nebraska 5/17/19.”
Giorgi Tabatadze – “My biggest hobby is hiking in the woods, fishing (I’ve caught a record-sized Blue Gill!), and spending time/traveling with my family – my lovely wife, daughter, and four cats.”
Graham Baner – “I got started in the fire service as soon as I turned 18. My house burned down in 2015, and I watched the fire department help my family in many ways. I love studying the trucks and equipment and working on the procedures that we need to know. However, the thing that I love the most is being able to help someone on their worst day.”
Ron Turner – If it’s got an engine – Ron’s nearby!
Shawn Reischauer – “My favorite hobby is music! I play many instruments and love performing and writing music. Since I was young, I have been a musician, but recently I have been on a bass guitar kick since I joined the cover band Emily Hope as the bassist. I also play for Eastview Christian Church worship.” Listen to this clip on Instagram!
Doug Fruendt – “Here are some hobbies that I enjoy doing. The triathlon was at the US Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska. I also participated with my buddy in a Spartan Beast held at Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado. I love to mountain bike and camp. I also like to road ride. I keep my road bike inside my truck, so whenever I have a chance, I can ride.”
