National Hobby Month 2022

National Hobby Month 2022

Welcome to January, National Hobby Month. Can you believe that the people you work with are Civil War re-enactors, make jewelry by metalsmithing, and hunt black bears? And that’s just naming a few.

Check out what we’re up to when we’re not in a truck or office chair.

Harold Jeannette Jr. – Playing arcade video games. I hold the world record on Space Invaders. You can see the full game on YouTube.

James Grier – Camping or spending any time outdoors with my wife and kids at the Eureka Sportsman’s Club.

Willie Taylor – This is The DJI Air 2s, which can fly up to 4mls and capture 4k video and high-resolution photos.

Kirk Swanson – My wife and I enjoy Civil War reenacting.

Saige Anderson – I’m not sure I would call it a hobby yet. But it takes a lot of time, and I hope to get better…so maybe it qualifies! Here is me and a little cousin jamming along!

Brent Martin – “Hunting, fishing, loving every day – that’s the prayer that a country boy prays.”

Samuel Moravec – Model railroading

Wayne McPherson – Hunting, fishing, and Skeet competitions (Illinois State 28 gauge skeet champion)

Mimi Barthel – I enjoy Metalsmithing (making jewelry out of sterling silver, brass, and copper) is my hobby.

James Martin – Fishing

Evan Nestel – My wife and I do Country Swing-Dancing.

Chris Mazza – Here I am in my natural environment, taking a break from what I enjoy doing the most, trail riding with my gravel bike.

Kirsten Gee – Here is a picture of one of my biggest morel mushrooms found to date. Besides morels, I am an avid mushroom forager of all edible mushrooms! Morels just happen to be my favorite and the ones I spend the most time in the woods in search of.

Gary Miller – This is my hobby, taking pictures of Nature. I Love going through the Mountains—God’s awesome creation. Hiking up in the mountains is another hobby.

Troy Decker – Getting up on Saturday morning in the Spring and Summer and having breakfast with my wife and jumping on the Harley, and riding to destinations unknown.

Cole and Cody Zeller – My brother and I love collecting and listening to vinyl records. In our household, we grew up with our dad’s old Thorens turntable in our living room.

Paul Oyen – A man of many hobbies – illustrating, photography, furniture design and building and woodworking, baking and cooking, and shooting sports.

Jessi Blunier – Piano playing, thrifting, hand-lettering, puzzling, eating ice cream

Bill Wettstein – I love the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, riding ATVs, hiking, and biking.  Taking a bear with my bow in Colorado was very exciting! I caught the 39.5″ northern pike on a fishing trip in Canada. My nephew, Toby Plattner from HR, was with me in the boat and landed it in a dip net for me.

Mike Wells – This is me with one of my 5 motorcycles. I love dirt bikes, dualsport bikes, adventure touring, and my Harley, too. This was at Lovell canyon in Nevada this past November.

Jared Fehr – Not much has changed in the hobby department. I still have the same love of travel, the outdoors, and God (not in that order😊), and if I can do all three at once, it’s a real treat!

Derek Rabe – I have restored old cars since I was a teenager. The 1967 Chevelle you see here was done in 1982.
