The Nussbaum Benevolence Committee started 2023 with a goal: coordinate a volunteer day every other month with the Midwest Food Bank, one of the organizations we already support monetarily. If you need a reminder, the gist of it is that five employees of Nussbaum will be able to sign up, coordinate a vehicle to ride in, and drive to the Midwest Food Bank to be “hands and feet”.
On Wednesday, March 8, Nussbaum sent a second group (read about the first group’s experience here) to volunteer and experience a day at the Midwest Food Bank. According to Caleb Gee, “A great time was had by all!” CJ Conger remarked that it was “fun to see how much food gets donated and to hear a little bit about how many people it helps! A good time that everyone should experience.”
Cory Adams wanted to note that while the Nussbaum group was complimented on their go-getter attitudes, he was very impressed with another volunteer there, an eighty-something service veteran, who kept working and moving boxes the entire time they were there.
Adam Kilpatrick also had good things to say, noting “[The experience] was awesome. I love doing that stuff — impacting the community any way we can.” Zack Hildebrand echoed the sentiment, saying that he highly recommends if anyone at Nussbaum has the time and opportunity to, that they take the opportunity to volunteer at MFB. He also noted that the food was incredible (as a bonus, they feed you before putting you to work).
Now, for some pictures of the day:
Your Chance to Sign Up!
As a reminder, Noah plans to send out a sign-up for volunteers every other month, so look for those in your email. Right now, this opportunity is open to all Nussbaum office/shop staff, and we are working through ideas of how we can involve drivers in opportunities like this. This is on work time, and we are limiting sign-ups to one time per person, because of the limited amount of spots available. Thanks for being willing to serve, and for your support!
