This Memorial Day weekend, we stop to reflect and remember those who gave their lives protecting our freedoms, serving this nation, and aiding others around the world. Their sacrifice is the greatest an individual can give for one’s country. While we can no longer say thank you to these individuals, we can express our deepest gratitude through those they left behind. It is sometimes difficult to understand who these people are that gave their lives. Most of them are young men and women that leave grieving parents or a young spouse with little children who will never again be able to hug or kiss their fallen hero. They leave brothers that fought right beside them, sharing a bond that few can.
These individuals. These soldiers. These heroes deserve the utmost honor and respect from the American people. This Memorial Day, as many parts of the country “reopen” from lockdown and we enjoy a little respite from stresses and concerns of everyday life, we must pause to think about why we have that freedom – why we can enjoy a day away from work or a weekend on the lake. These freedoms that we often take for granted have come at great price, even the greatest of price. Remember those that gave their lives so that you can live yours freely.
To those who gave all, we owe an unpayable debt of gratitude. To the loved ones they leave behind, we grieve with you, and through you, give our deepest “thank you.”
Great job phillip
