Shiny new red trucks!
Sometimes, I wonder if people think I’m Santa Claus, “giving out” new trucks to drivers who’ve been good this year. Occasionally, a driver will call to thank me after they’ve settled into a new truck, and my usual reply is, “You’re welcome, but I didn’t do anything. You earned it!”
So, how can our drivers earn a new truck? Good question. We have several considerations for determining who is eligible:
- At least one year of employment.
- A consistent pattern of truck and trailer cleanliness.
- Our shop team inspects your truck and submits a cleanliness report when you check in for routine PMs.
- Dirty trailers are being tracked as of July 2023 – recall the recent video that Cory sent out on this topic.
- A score of 675 or higher on the scorecard.
- While this does require some work, be encouraged – our average driver score for July 2023 was 667.
- Be in good standing regarding discipline, maintenance events, accidents, and incidents.
If you meet these criteria, you are eligible for a new unit! Once you have a new truck, we do our best to keep you in it until the point where Tony sells it (we don’t run our trucks forever – at a certain point, we consider them too high mileage and get new ones). At that point, providing you still meet the requirements, you are in line for another new one! Thanks for all you guys and gals do day in and day out!
