Trust in His Provision
By: Brent Nussbaum
This past weekend, my wife and I left for Nashville, TN to visit our kids. We stopped for fuel in Cadiz, KY, approximately an hour and a half from Nashville. As I was fueling up, I glanced down and noticed the head of a nail sticking in my tire. I groaned, thinking what this could mean. It was 4:25 on Friday afternoon of Memorial Day Weekend. I had a spare, but didn’t want to take the time to unload my truck to change it, and I had no idea where to find a repair shop that would still be open at that time of the day. The tire was losing air, so I knew I needed to act fast. I began looking around for a “local” who could help me and found one who was just getting into his pickup. He recommended an auto repair shop six miles away, but said, it’s Friday at 4:30, and they close at 5:00. If you can get there before they close, I think they’ll take care of you.
We beelined up the road and found the auto repair shop. When I pulled in, I’ll admit, I misjudged it. It was an old gas station with used tires strewn all over the drive and people working on cars out on the driveway. I pulled in at 4:40 and asked them if they could help me. They told me they’d get on it right away and soon two of them jacked up my car, pulled the tire off, plugged it, and finished twenty minutes later. I walked inside to pay and saw a plaque on the wall with a scripture verse on it. I asked the lady behind the counter if they were believers and she replied, yes I am, how about you? We had a nice conversation, and we were back on our way.
What a relief! I shouldn’t have been surprised……..I had committed all the details of our trip to prayer that morning. That I even noticed the nail in my tire while I was fueling up was a miracle. Finding a local moments later that gave me the repair shop recommendation, and arriving with barely enough time for them to finish the repair before they closed was another miracle. However, none of them were coincidences. God arranged each encounter. He always provides for us, sometimes in the most unusual places. All we need to do is ask and trust Him for His provision.
He is such a good, good Father!
