Recognizing Clark Reed
Once you become Certified RED, you are only at the beginning of your journey. Clark Reed was certified in 2018, and just four years later, he has 500K miles of RED driving under his belt (along with his ongoing education). Five diamonds have been added to his custom sterling silver ring, and his mileage rate has increased at each level. Clark received a 2 cent per mile increase to his base rate upon becoming certified and another half-cent bump for each additional 100K Certified RED miles. So far, that’s a (permanent) total of 4.5 cents per mile!
In practical terms of his wage increase, Clark shares the math with us:
Certified Red Level | Accumulated Certified RED Miles | Increase in Pay Per 100K Miles |
Initial Certification | 100,000 | $2,000 |
RED1 | 200,000 | $2,500 |
RED2 | 300,000 | $3,000 |
RED3 | 400,000 | $3,500 |
RED4 | 500,000 | $4,000 |
RED5 | Total: $15,000 |
Clark’s Challenges and Advice
Upon reaching 500K RED miles, we asked Clark: “what is the most challenging part of Certified RED?”
He answered: “staying motivated and scheduling all of the hands-on sessions. Stopping at the terminal can mean lower miles for the week; it can be hard to reason that it is a good thing. But in the long run, it’s worth it.”
For those who aren’t quite sure if Certified RED is worth it, Clark says that “for a minimal amount of time, the rewards are worth it. Just look at the math.”
Future Goals
It took Clark four years to achieve 500K miles of safe driving. On average, that is about 12,000 miles a month. His goal is to stay focused, fill his ring, and – most importantly – help improve the public image of the Transportation Industry.
We look forward to these goals being realized! Congratulations Clark!
Great job Clark! What an achievement!
