The Chaplain’s Vlog | The Power of An Act of Kindness

Here’s a quick word from our Chaplain, Jim Revelle.

Hello Nussbaum team:

Please check out my brief video. Hoping it is a small idea that can bring encouragement to you. We all want to be healthy and happy especially when life seems to be serving up many unique challenges these days. Small, common habits can have a profound impact on this. Experts tell us some of those habits include: gratitude, savoring the moment, good sleep, exercise, enjoying nature, laughing, a healthy eating plan to name a few.

Here is another strategy that could contribute to your overall well-being: intentional acts of kindness!

Research shows that happy people are motivated to do kind things to others.

Here is a challenge: over the next 7 days, perform three acts of kindness beyond what you normally do. These things do not have to be over-the-top intensive acts. They do not have to be time-consuming. Choose something that could really impact another person. For example: help a colleague with something, give a few dollars to your favorite charity, say something kind to a stranger, write a thank-you note, give blood. Be creative!

I would love to hear any stories of good things that have come out of your courage to share!!! Shoot me an email and let me hear what happens! As always, stay safe!

Jim

  1. We should rely on the Holy Spirit that we ask into our lives to motivate our actions. Relying on our actions and feelings only is trusting in ourselves. The Holy Spirit may at times motivate us to speak up against what is wrong and anger people, but the end result is hopefully a good solution.
