Ed Gabriel
“I’d like to nominate Ed Gabriel for an OWNit Moment. One conversation can’t fully capture why he deserves this recognition, because this has been his approach ever since he became my Driver Manager. He is incredibly knowledgeable, always takes the time to listen, and has an amazing ability to problem-solve, no matter what issue comes up. Whether it’s equipment problems, planning, or simply helping me work through a difficult situation, he never makes me feel like I’m bothering him.
One of the things I appreciate most is the trust he gives me. He doesn’t micromanage me. Instead, he gives me the freedom to do my job while always being available when I need him. That balance has helped me feel trusted, respected, and confident in my work.
Recently, I was going through a particularly stressful situation. Instead of giving me a quick answer, Ed took the time to talk everything through with me. He listened, helped me look at things from a different perspective, and worked with me on a plan moving forward. By the end of that conversation, I felt hopeful again.
I know Driver Managers have demanding jobs and many drivers depending on them, but Ed has never made me feel like I was just another truck number. He has always made me feel supported, valued, and genuinely cared about. His professionalism, empathy, and commitment to helping his drivers succeed are the reasons I wouldn’t want anyone else as my Driver Manager, and one of the reasons I want to continue building my career at Nussbaum.
