Adrienne Riel + The Afterhours Team
“I would like to nominate the whole after-hours team for an OWNit Moment! For the past year and a half that I’ve been driving for Nussbaum, afterhours has come to my rescue multiple times–breakdown troubles, scheduled delivery dilemmas, relaying loads on weekends that would have been late otherwise, singing me lullabies at night because I can’t sleep (just kidding there :)). But in all seriousness, afterhours folks do a fantastic job of making the looks-like-an-impossible-task turn into a we-got-it-done-right-and-on-time-task.
I’d like to specifically shout out Adrienne Riel–tonight, I was running a Hot Load which already had me moving as efficiently as possible (and a tiny bit stressed). I had done a split sleeper berth earlier in the day and thought I had plenty of time to kill before arriving at the receiver at 5am the next day. As I was driving along, it dawned on me that I needed to be in sleeper berth for a full 8 hours straight before my clock would reset, and finish out on 10 hours down time. If I stopped at a truck stop 30 miles prior to my destination, I would be late by 1.5 hours the next morning, waiting for my clock to recover!
Immediately, my stress levels skyrocketed. I pulled over at the next truck stop and got on the phone right away, and Adrienne picked up. She was so calm, and that helped calm me down, because I was freaking out! She calculated things out, came up with a magnificent solution, and then explained to me that I wasn’t quite understanding how the sleeper berth thing works. She graciously took the time to explain sleeper berth to me better, and voilà–I even made it to the receiver earlier than planned!
