We recently passed our 1 Year Anniversary on opening the East Unassigned Truck and Trailer Shop! We thought this would be a good time to recap the accomplishments of these two teams, what they have learned, and the benefits they provide to Nussbaum.
The current personnel count is: 7 tractor techs, 1 body tech (tractor), 3 detailers (2 Part Time), 7 trailer techs, and 2 shop foremen.
We’ve performed 1,022 trailer repair orders! Of these, the 3rd largest expense was body repairs, which was the original purpose of this shop. We’ve reduced the amount of outsourced trailer body work and performed numerous first-time repairs. These include roof sections, roof replacements, sidewalls, siderails, noses, and bogey assemblies.
We’ve also performed 1,228 truck ROs, the largest expense being cab & sheet repairs, which was one of the main purposes of this shop. We’ve brought numerous jobs in-house that we previously would’ve outsourced and done some first-time repairs on the tractor side as well. We’ve prepared 144 tractors for newly hired Nussbaum drivers; prepped and in-serviced 75 new Cascadia’s into our fleet; and prepped and sold 81 sale trucks. On the truck body side specifically, we have brought painting the black stripe on the hoods in-house as well as all our replacement body parts (prepping and painting).
Opening the East Shop enabled us to use the old trailer bays in the West shop for the Inspection Lane! We’ve completed 767 truck inspections and 1,044 trailer inspections.
