It’s All in the Details
International Road Check kicks off today, May 4, and runs through Thursday, May 6. This year’s vehicle focus will be on lighting, and driver focus will be on Hours of Service (HOS).
Are You Prepared?
Rick Schmidt, Director of HR & Safety, cautions, “They are going to be looking at the little details of HOS. There are a lot of small items that can be forgotten about, and you’ll want to make sure you’re doing those details…” He smiles and mentions, “…and continuing to add those details even after International Road Check is over.”
Checklist
- Do you have 8 days’ worth of paper logs available in your truck?
- Do you have the right trailer listed in the notes?
- Are you doing a pre-trip inspection before you take off for the day? And, is it listed in your logs?
- Do you know where to look for the ELD operating manual?
- Where are the instructions for transferring data at a roadside inspection?
Development Coordinator Cory Adams reviews, “On those last two points, both are available in two places. You can check LiNK in the Permit Book. Or you can check the Geotab app on the dashboard just under the HOS button.
An officer may ask to see these items.”
