James has recently moved from the team of Maintenance Coordinators to a shop leadership role as Fleet Services Manager. He moved into this new role at the beginning of February. What better way to get to know him than to feature him in an employee spotlight!
James Grier – Fleet Services Manager
What did you do before you started working at Nussbaum?
Before I started at Nussbaum, I was active duty Marine Corps. My family and I were stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. During my time in the Marines, I served two tours in Afghanistan in 2011 and 2013.
In 2014 my wife and I decided to move back to Illinois to start a family and go back to school. Upon arriving in Illinois, I started achieving my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Science and Engineering. I received my associate degree at ICC through the DPET program and then finished my degree at SIUC.
How did you get started at Nussbaum?
I became an intern at Nussbaum while I was getting my associate degree. A family member encouraged me to apply here because they knew many people who have been pleased with their experience at Nussbaum.
Why do you stay at Nussbaum?
I have enjoyed every position that I have held here, and I’m thankful for the opportunities each one has provided my family and me. I am constantly encouraged by the team of people I am surrounded by every day, and the culture here is unmatched.
What are some of your hobbies?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching Formula 1, and doing anything outdoors.
